It hasn’t yet surfaced at the time of writing, but Valve have stated in their latest patch notes for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive that a free version of the ultra-popular esports FPS should be available “later today”. While limited to offline play only (presumably including bots) and watching other players through their highly flexible GOTV spectator mode, it should finally provide a free demo of sorts for the game.
This update also permanently retires the old ‘legacy’ UI, in favour of the fancy new Panorama style, shown above, although this seems to be a point of some contention.
