Goalpost-Apocalyptic: Rocket League’s Chaos Run Out

Rocket League [official site] doesn’t even start until its Christmas Event until December 14th, but developers Psyonix are already showering us with presents. Today brings those Portal-themed cosmetic goodies along with a new post-apocalyptic thundering dome to play carball in. On top of that, today also sees the release of the Chaos Run paid DLC, which has two new cars looking straight out of Mad Max and plenty of rusty, dusty, mohawky cosmetic doodads to slap on your sportsride. All of this is wrapped up neatly with a bow in Patch 1.10.

Fallout 4: A Dance With Deathclaws

Continuing a perma-death Fallout 4 diary, in which I begin with absolutely nothing other than a plan to to voyage around only the outermost periphery of the world.

Guess I’m paying a visit to Chez Deathclaw, then.

The Spectacular & Startling RPS Advent Calendar 2015

It’s a Christmas miracle! The RPS Advent Calendar lives once more. That means that over the next 24 days we’ll be opening small cardboard doors and celebrating the favourite games we find within. The games are in no particular order, except for the 24th which will be our favourite game of the year, and we’re combining it with last year’s Bestest Bests to award each game a particular best-in-genre title.

California Dreaming: American Truck Simulator

Christmas is, of course, the time when Santa Claus comes to visit every lucky boy and girl. He does that in the form of a rosy-cheeked image, plastered across the side of a Coca Cola truck. Nothing says “goodwill to all” quite like an appropriated corporate mascot slapped on the flank of a vehicle delivering syrupy slugs of overpriced brown fizz to the masses.

There’s one truck that almost certainly won’t be driving home for Christmas though. American Truck Simulator [official site]. And that makes this the worst festive season since the time a ghost told me that nobody liked me and that an undertaker would steal the pants from my corpse.

Wizard Detective Is A Game About Detecting A Wizard

I like dynamic detective games. I am attempting to make a dynamic detective game in my spare time. Wizard Detective is a dynamic detective game about detecting a wizard, and it’s reminiscent of both Westerado and my beloved Where’s An Egg. It’s on Greenlight and there’s a demo on Itch you can download now. Step below for some thoughts and a trailer.

Darkest Dungeon’s Shape-Shifting Abomination Class

You and me both.

Sure, your mighty heroes might have already become quivering wrecks who run screaming when they see a spider in the bathtub, but Darkest Dungeon [official site] can get darker yet. The fab roguelikelike (#34 on our list of best RPGs!) is still in Early Access, meaning more horrors and nasties are sure to come. Some of them might join your party. The ‘Inhuman Bondage’ update (ooh that’s dark!) this week added the new Abomination class, who can switch between human and beast form. Your party may not be wholly thrilled about that transformation.
